02 — Included

In the price, not in an add-on tier.

Storage on NVMe: Your data sits on local NVMe rather than a network volume, so every write commits against a disk that is physically yours. It is sized with the plan and never metered.
Daily backups, kept seven days: Restore any of the last seven in place — the address does not change, so your connection string keeps working. We snapshot the current disk before a restore runs, which makes the restore itself reversible for seven days.
Connection pooling and TLS: PgBouncer in transaction mode on 6432, direct Postgres on 5432, TLS with scram-sha-256 on both. An IP allowlist is available when open-with-TLS is not enough.
A dedicated instance: Your database is not a schema inside somebody else's cluster. Nothing else is scheduled against your CPU or your disk.
Postgres 17 and the usual extensions: pgvector, pg_stat_statements, pg_trgm and pgcrypto are ready on first boot. Minor versions and security updates land in a fixed window, Sundays 03:00 UTC, announced beforehand.
Self-serve operations: Create, restore, reset, rotate credentials, set an allowlist, resize up, delete. Seven buttons in the console, none of which is an email to us.

04 — Limits

What you give up at this price.

Four rows above include point-in-time restore and we do not. Here is the whole list, before you sign up rather than after.

Recovery point up to 24 hours: Backups are daily images, not a continuous write log. A bad day can cost you a day of writes. If that would end your business, buy point-in-time restore from someone on the list above — we will tell you the same thing on a call.
No shell, no superuser: No SSH, no COPY PROGRAM, no custom postgresql.conf, no untrusted extensions. That restriction is what keeps the operations automated and the price where it is.
One region: Three Hetzner datacenters to choose from — Falkenstein and Nuremberg in Germany, Helsinki in Finland. Good from Europe, fine from the US east coast, not a global fleet.
No free tier: Card on from the first minute. There is no trial that turns into a bill you forgot about.

04 — Questions

Answers before you ask.

How long until I have a connection string?

About ninety seconds. Instances come from pre-built images with Postgres and the pooler already installed, so creating one is a boot and a credential injection rather than an install.

What happens when my disk fills up?

At 80% you get an email and a banner in the console with a one-click upgrade. At 95% the instance goes read-only until you upgrade or free space. It will not quietly fill to zero and corrupt itself at four in the morning.

Do you check that the backups actually restore?

Monthly, per instance, automatically. We build a throwaway server from the latest backup, run pg_amcheck and a row-count sample against it, then destroy it. A failure pages us, not you.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. You hold real Postgres credentials, so pg_dump works against your instance at any time. Nothing here is a proprietary fork or a wire-protocol shim.

What does a restore actually do?

Backups are taken once a day and seven are kept. We snapshot the current disk, then rebuild the instance from the daily backup you picked. The address is unchanged, so your application reconnects to the same string. Downtime scales with how much data you have. The pre-restore snapshot is kept seven days, so a restore you regret is itself reversible.

Where does my data live, and who touches it?

On Hetzner infrastructure in Germany or Finland — you pick the datacenter — inside the EU. The DPA names our single infrastructure subprocessor and nothing else has access to your database.

Can I move up a plan later?

Yes, at any time, and the storage grows with it. Plans go up only — pick the moment, because it costs a few minutes of downtime.
